Velma Pauline ‘Pat’ Street
GAINESVILLE — A Celebration of the Life of Velma Pauline “Pat” Street, 84, of Gainesville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at the First Christian Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Street passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Rev. Mark Loewen, pastor of the church, will officiate, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.
Mrs. Street was born Dec. 28, 1924, in McLeansboro, Ill., daughter of Felix Poore and Alcy Lee Hodges Poore. On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Joel D. Street in McLeansboro.
Pat co-owned and managed the former Willis Water Co. in Sherwood Shores for more than 20 years. She was active in Habitat for Humanity and North Texas Medical Center Auxiliary, receiving her lifetime membership in 2008. She was an active member of the First Christian Church for more than 60 years, serving in many capacities.
She is survived by three daughters, JoAnn (Dan) Ecker of Sherman, Janet (Wally) Cox of Gainesville and Janelle (Jim) Jackson of Rockdale; grandchildren, Kacy Kupper, Leslie (Ricky) Roberts, Melissa (Michael) Lollis, Heather (Ken) Kelley, Josh Jackson, Lacey Cox, Jared Jackson and Ryan Cox; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Madilyn, Hannah, J.T. and Kellyn; and many treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel, on Nov. 21, 1999; parents; and brother, Gene Poore.
Pallbearers will be Scott Davis, Bill McPherson, Roger Staats, Don Johnson, Claude Tamplin, and David Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Draper, J.W. Lee, Benny West, Ed and Ona Wright, Marvin Morgan, and Harry McCoy.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Barbara Newsom and Judy Conner for the loving care they showed our Mother. We also thank the Cooke County EMS and the staff of Denton Regional Medical Center for the compassion they showed to Mother and to the entire family.

The family will receive friends at the Street home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
