Michael “Mike” Joseph Hundt, husband and dedicated father, passed away December 24, 2021 in Flower Mound at the age of 72.
Mike was born September 2, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas to Joe B. and Elfrieda Hundt. He attended school in Lindsay and graduated valedictorian from Lindsay High School. Fascinated by mathematics and science, he attended Rice University and achieved Magna Cum Laude honors with his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to achieve his Master’s in the same field. After graduation, Mike moved to Mountain View, CA and met his wife, Lexie Mena, during a five-year employment with Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto, CA. The couple was married May 20, 1977 in Reno, NV and had their first child before moving to Double Oak, TX, where they raised their daughters, Kristy, Laura, Teresa and Michelle. Mike spent nearly 40 years with STMicroelectronics in Carrollton, TX and is credited with dozens of patents in the semiconductor industry. He also made lifelong friendships and traveled extensively throughout his career before retiring in 2017.
Mike never stayed still and had many hobbies. He enjoyed road-tripping to and hiking in national and state parks. He played many sports in high school, played intramural sports at Rice University, where he introduced volleyball, and coached his daughters’ softball teams for years. He loved to garden, having learned from his mother on the family farm. Mike was a lifelong learner, reading and sharing stories on a plethora of topics, with a particular interest in astronomy. In addition, he was an amateur photographer, capturing memories of his travels and his family. Mike was also a skilled carpenter, helping several family members build homes, furniture, and other woodworking projects.
Although he traveled the world and had many interests, Mike was drawn to the family farm in Lindsay. In the Hundt family since 1902, he made many improvements and additions, with the desire to create a family legacy. He spent considerable time there after his retirement.
He will be fondly remembered for both his dry, sarcastic wit and his loving generosity.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lexie; daughters Kristy Hundt, Laura Garen and her husband Micheal, Teresa Hundt, and Michelle Hundt; grandchildren Alexis and Caden Paull, Ava and Sophia Garen, and Ellie Hundt; siblings Ellen Story, Margie Bendure and her husband John, Richard Hundt and his wife Debbie, Joe Hundt and his wife Sue, Steve Hundt, Paul Hundt and his wife Sandra, John Hundt, Minnie Hargis and her husband Kent; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mike’s family wishes to thank his nephew Darren Hundt for the love and care shown to him, especially in recent months.
