Erma Lee Wood

Graveside services for Erma Lee Wood, 78, of Gainesville, are set for 11:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Fairview Cemetery with David Gray officiating. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wood passed away January 23, 2011 in Denton.

Erma Lee was born February 21, 1932 in Wise County to Jesse and Bertha Hays Wright. She married Louis Street who subsequently died at a young age. They had two children together; Kathy and Anthony. She then married Burt Wood November 2, 1959 in Fort Worth and moved to Gainesville that same year. Karen was soon born. Erma and Burt owned and operated the Grand Avenue Barber Shop in Gainesville for 43 years. Erma was deeply loved by her family and will be missed.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her children: Kathy and Danny Shaw of Gainesville, Lewis Anthony and Cecilia Street of San Antonio, Karen and Sidney Walston of Dallas. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her brother and his wife, Kenneth and Beverly Wright of Denton.

Erma Lee was preceded in death by both of her husbands and by her siblings.
