Mary Cleo Buchner

Mary Cleo Buchner, born to George Washington Briscoe and Mary Ellen Miller in Wewoka, OK on May 7, 1914, died February 9, 2011 in Kingsland, TX. She was 96. Cleo is survived by her daughter Lorene Buchner Mathis of Horseshoe Bay, TX; daughter-in-law Janie Lemmon Buchner of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Sally Ramsay (Ian), Jana Chacon, Mark Buchner and Anne Matz (Darryll); four great grandchildren, one great, great grandson and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Buchner in 1995, son Kelly Wayne Buchner, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Cleo was a life-long member of the Soroptimist Club of Gainesville, and a Sunday School teacher for 35 years at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, where she was a lifetime member with over 50 years of continuous membership. Cleo and her husband Bill owned and operated A & M Exterminating for more than 30 years in Cook County. Cleo loved to garden and her award-winning yard was always a delight to her. She enjoyed wildflowers, bird watching, fishing and she was a fabulous cook, passing her passion for good food and entertaining down to her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 12, 11 a.m., at George J. Carroll & Sons Funeral Home in Gainesville. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
