Frances Wheeler

Frances Wheeler, 88, of Gainesville, went to be with her Lord on May 1, 2011 at Pecan Tree Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after an extended illness. The funeral will be Thursday May 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Hubert Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Frances was born November 16, 1922 to Dr. Charles E. Richter and Helen Crawford Richter. She attended schools in Wortham and Dallas, Texas, graduating from high school in Sacramento, CA. After moving back to Texas, she attended Gainesville Junior College for two years. On Spetember 25, 1946 she married Lacy B. Wheeler, her beloved husband of 64 years. She was active member of First Baptist Church since 1948, where she taught a Sunday School class, sang in the choir and was active in W.M.U..

In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, she was employed at Cooke County Junior College and Weber Aircraft.

Survivors include her husband Lacy of Gainesville; daughter and son in law Lynne and Mike Compton of Gainesville; Jeri Nell Mullins of Plano, sister in law Florence Richter; seven grandchildren, and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Bryan Wheeler in 1963; son Jeffery Wheeler in 2008; brother Charles Richter, Jr.; and a son in law Mark Mullins in 2002.

Pallbearers will be Cody Compton, Matt Compton, Zach Mullins, Johnny Leftwich, George Hardcastle, and Robert Kelley.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
