Services for Barbara Wofford, 71 are set for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 2, 2011 at George J. Carroll Funeral Home in Gainesville with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of George J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
Barbara passed from this life on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.
Barbara was born in Purcell, Oklahoma on May 19, 1940. She was raised primarily in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High. After attending business school in Dallas, Barbara returned to Gainesville and started a family. She spent several years traveling and living in different areas of the United States with her husband and young children, before she return to Gainesville once again. Barbara worked in and around Gainesville in the food service industry and fed most of the citizens of Cooke County at some time during her career. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and had the ability to make anyone feel welcome. Barbara was a member of First Christian Church in Gainesville. Barbara was a very proud mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by many who loved her. She was a loyal friend and the favorite of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and others.
Survivors include her children, son and daughter in law, David and Kim Wofford, son, Larry Wofford, and daughter Lynda Wofford, all of Gainesville. Sisters, Helen Coachman, Wanda Rieter of Gainesville; Karen Seay of Cleburne, Texas; and Kay Chew of Marietta, Oklahoma; grandchildren Kati Crump, Cassy and Amanda Ball, Treven and Elijah Fisher, Traci McCain, Elizabeth Wofford, Ezekial Mayo; and great-grandchildren Kevin and Alaster Crump, Anson Rodriguez, and Tallulah Mayo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Tollie Lovell, sister Bobbie Jo Phillips, brother Tollie D. Lovell, and her son, Eddy Ball, Jr.
Visitation is set for 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at George Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
