Douglas Brewer

Funeral Mass for Douglas Brewer 87 ,are set for Saturday June 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Victor Cruz officating with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Friday June 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. with vistation to follow at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Brewer passed away on June 1, 2011 at Munster Memorial Hospital.

Douglas Brewer was born August 19, 1923 in Bolivar, Texas to Cecil and Ruth Vandever Brewer. He attended 5 different schools graduating from Sherman Tx High School in 1941.Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served as a gunner on supply ships until 1946 when he was honorably discharged a a Seaman first class. He always felt fortunate that his duty allowed him to travel to many parts of the world.He moved to Gainesville Texas in 1946 where he went to work for the Deluxe Cleaners and then he worked for Miller Cleaners until he retired.

Douglas is survived by his wife Laura Beth ( Mooney) Brewer, two sons Mike Brewer and his wife Carol and David Brewer and his wife Denise all of Gainesville, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.Two sisters Anita Ferman of Sherman and Paula Reber of Las Vegas Nevada. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; wives Eileen Dimmock, Luella Banks and Lorraine Jester, a grandson Michael Douglas Brewer and a sister Jo Evelyn Burns.
