Funeral Services for Patricia Stockard, 78, of Muenster, are set for Tuesday June 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will be held at the Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville at 1:00 pm under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Monday June 27, 2011 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Patricia was born in Honoulu, HI on December 24, 1932 to Walter David Pockrus and May Wescoatt. She passed away on June 25, 2011 in Muenster.

Patricia married Carl Gordon Stockard on April 13, 1952 in Muskogee, OK. They raised five children together. Patricia was the first in her family to attend college and earned a Bachelors degree in education at North Texas State University. She also did graduate work toward her Masters. Her children were so important to her that she didn't begin college until all of them had started school. She arranged her schedule to see them off in the morning and be home with them after school.

Patricia started teaching at Lee Elementary School in Gainesville, where she taught for twenty years. She loved history and reading, and instilled in her children the importance of reading.

Patricia loved the time spent with her grandchildren and watching them grow up and start families of their own. Patricia was a devout Catholic. She tried to set this example throughout her life and held to her faith throughout her medical problems.

During her final week, her family members were a great comfort as they spent time with her, especially her great grandchildren playing in her room. Patricia was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law Michael and Janet Stockard of Denton; son and daughter in law Glenn David and Rosie Stockard of Eastland; daughter Sharon Stockard of Anchorage, AK; daughter Patti Mauldin of Thackerville, OK; daughter in law Phyllis Williams of Gainesville; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and sister in law Eddie and Karen Farris of Medford, OR.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; son John Raymond Stockard; brother Ray Farris; and a great grandson.
