Memorial service for Anita Jo Homer Wilson 76, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Don Yeager officating under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home. Anita passed away on August 26, 2011 in Gainesville.

Anita was born on September 10, 1934 in Gainesville to Andrew Jackson and Margie Homer. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1952, received her B.A. degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant Oklahoma, a M. Mu. Ed from Texas State University ( UNT ), she was a music teacher in elementary, middle school, Cooke County College (NCTC) , music director for over 35 years at First Methodist Church, private piano instructor. Anita was a Accompanist for high school and college music productions, gave many programs for civic organizations, wrote and directed musicals for Delta Kappa Gamma which provided funds for college scholarships, Soroptimist Distinguished Woman for 1998 and Distinguished Educator Hall of Fame for GISD.

Anita is survived by her husband Glenn D. Wilson of Gainesville, son-in-law and daughter,Nick and DeAnn Muller of Rosston Tx, son and daughter in law Todd and Pattie Wilson of The Colony, five grandchildren Hunter Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Allie Wilson, Mary Muller and Emily Muller, one sister Deloris Johnson of Richland Hills and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeanne Waggoner Evans and brother James Harold Homer.

The family is requesting in the honor of Anita they are recruiting a volunteer choir, for anyone that is interested ,there will be a choir rehearsal on tuesday August 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Gainesville Tx, Home Hospice of Cooke County or organization of personal choice. You may sign the on line registry at geojcarroll.com.
