Funeral services Michael Smith, 49, of Gainesville, are pending with the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith died September 18, 2011 at the Medical Center of Plano.

Michael was born July 27, 1962 in Charleston, SC to JB and Norma Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter Amber Smith of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Brittany Marion Smith of Gainesville; son and daughter in law Alex and Stephanie Smith of Gainesville; grandchildren Daisha, Aiden, and Jared Smith of Gainesville. He is also survived by his parents Norma Thompson of Pawnee City, NE and J.B. Smith of Greenville, SC; brother and sister-in-law David and Karen Smith of Greer, SC; brother and sister-in-law James and Linda Smith of Richlands, VA; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Mike Post of St. Joe, MO; sister Rhonda Ross of Pawnee City, NE; sister and brother-in-law Jeana and Bob Hickey of Pawnee City, NE. He is preceded in death by his wife Donna Smith in 2009.

To help offset the funeral expenses, a benefit will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 6:30 PM to Midnight at Seafoodville, 424 E. California St., Gainesville, Texas.
