George Ray Humphrey

Graveside service for George Ray Humphrey 71, of Gainesville are set for Saturday October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral home with the Reverend Hubert Wright officating with burial to follow in Fairview cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday September 30, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.



Mr Humphrey passed away September 27, 2011 at Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville, Tx due to complications from Parkinson disease. George was born June 8, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma the sixth child of Artie and Mattie Fleming Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jennings and Lee Roy and two sisters Mary Ella and Jo Ann. Survivors include a sister Betty ( Humphrey ) Hendrix of Broken Arrow Ok. and several nieces, nephews and long time best friend John Dixon Truitt.



George graduated from Shawnee High School in 1958. George earned a degree from Oklahoma state University in Stillwater, Ok. in electronics in 1962 and a BS degree from OSU's college of Arts and Science in Economics and buisness management in 1965.



George moved to Gainesville and worked for UNT in Denton, george left UNT and went to work for a family friend of the Humphrey's William Dixon Truitt Jr. the owner of a profit sharing company Texas- Oklahoma Geophysical Company in Gainesville, Tx. the company manufactured and assembled equipment for oil exploration. George was given the responsibility in the late 1970's throughout the 1980's for hiring new employees. During this time George was the most imporant customer relations representive working with Geophyiscal Service Inc. the founder of Texas Instruments Inc.. George worked with TI on scheduling projects. Projects requring engineering was done William Truitts son, Georges's OSU roommate John Dixon Truitt. In 1991 John and George started va new buisness QMEM Inc. ( Quality Marketing Engineering and Manufacturing ) to expand the scope of it's manufacturing to others markets to deal with the downturn in oil exploration.



George was a member of The First Baptist Church of Gainesville and for years was active in choir and sunday school, serving as youth secretary. You may sign the on line registry at geojcarroll.com.
