Elton "Tug" Scruggs
Funeral Services for Elton "Tug" Scruggs, 87, of Gainesville, are set for 11:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Jerry Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the New Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2011.
Elton was born on June 4, 1924 in Wynnewood, OK to Henry Clyde and Ethel Electra Harris Scruggs. He passed away on October 8, 2011 in Gainesville. He attended Pikes Peak school in the Lindsay, OK area where his met his late wife Natoma McBride. They were married on March 21, 1942 in Lindsay, OK.
Tug was a sweet, gentle man with a loving smile, especially for his children and grandchildren. Even through his illness, Tug had a quick witty humor that brought a chuckle to those around him. He worked in the oilfield to care for his family and helped his parents on their farm. He loved baseball, enjoyed gardening, and tinkering on small engines.
Tug is survived by his son and daughter in law Dane and Mary Lou Scruggs of Moss Lake; daughter in law Gloria Scruggs Morrison of Sherwood Shores; daughter in law Sharon Scruggs of Drummond, OK; brother and sister in law Delno and Tina Lou Scruggs of Lindsay, OK. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Coy Scruggs; son Darrell Scruggs; brother Manuel Scruggs; brother Manley Scruggs; brother Arlis Scruggs, and a brother Garland Scruggs.
