Memorial services for Charles Billings Poore, 55, of Gainesville will be held Sunday October 23, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Yeager and Rev. Ben Reed will officiate.

Mr. Poore died on October 20, 2011 in Denton, Texas He was born on October 18, 1956 to Elwood and Ruth Webster Poore in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Debra Smelcer on July 29, 1989 In Gainesville, Texas.

Charles was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School and attended Mid-Western State in Wichita Falls. He attended Tarrant County Police Academy and was a deputy sherriff for Rockwall County. He was a Texas Narcotics Officer and was licensed private investigator. He was a volunteer for Youth For Understanding. He also was professional actor in his youth and was a managing director for The Butterfield Stage in the late 80's.

He is survived by his wife Debra of Gainesville; his father Elwood Poore of Gainesville; his daughter and son-in-law Felicia and Kyle Stinson and grandson William Christopher Stinson all of Kansas City, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Patti Poore of Arlington; his sister Nancy Lockhart of Gainesville; his Foreign Exchange children Annami of Finland, Ayako of Japan, Patricia of Mexico, Nadia of Russia, Kaira of Estonia, Julia of Germany, Amy of Mongolia, Kazumi of Japan, Sho of Japan, Noon of Thailand, Lin of China, Nadine of Quatar, and Dalia of Yemen.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Poore.
