Phillip Ray Brooks

Funeral services for Phillip Ray Brooks, 76, of Callisburg, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brooks passed away on November 23, 2011 in Gainesville.

Phillip was born December 15, 1934, in Gainesville, to Clayton Glenn and Glory B. Thompson Brooks. Phillip graduated from Gainesville High School in 1952. He married Florence “Flo” Heatley on December 23, 1956 in Breckenridge, TX. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1993 and was able to spend more time woodworking. He enjoyed building cabinets, hutches, and other pieces of furniture in his spare time. He had a great sense of humor which was reflected in his love for his family.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife Florence “Flo” Brooks of Callisburg; daughter and son-in-law Tracy and John Waite of Callisburg; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Cheryl Brooks of Callisburg; daughter-in-law Cheryl Brooks of Aberdeen, OH; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Judy Brooke of Arlington; grandchildren Jennifer and Matt Jeffers of Huntington, WV, Kerry Brooks of Aberdeen, OH, Logan Brooks of Callisburg, Samantha Waite of Callisburg; Clayton Waite of Callisburg; nephews James Brooke of Willow Park and John Brooke of MO; great-nephews Little Phillip and Eli Brooke.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and by two sons Tim and Steve Brooks and by infant daughter Kelly Lynn Brooks.

The family would like to give special appreciation to Cooke County EMS, Callisburg and Oakridge Volunteer Fire Depts., and Dr. Bob McLeroy.
