Horace Ralph Burkhart

Funeral services for Horace Ralph Burkhart 97, of Gainesville will be held on December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Bennie R. Slack officating, with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday December 9, 2011 from 6: 00 to 7: 00 p.m.at the Funeral Home.



Horace was born on November 10, 1914 in Fish Creek to Worley B. and Manie McCurdy Burkhart. He served in the U.S. Army and married Kathleen Pearl Boley on May 10, 1938 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Together they operated several businesses including restaurants and real estate ventures. Horace was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville and enjoyed singing with the Joy Singers. He is survived by Nephews Bill Burkhart, Gerald Burkhart and Don Lester. Nieces Joan Jones, Fleta Dean, Dorothy Bennett, Lou Dillard and Janie Pinkston. Horace was preceded in death by his parents and wife Kathleen who passed away on October 30, 2004.
