Funeral services for Robert " Bob ' Pierce 89, of Lake Kiowa are set for Friday December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the George J. Carroll Chapel with Larry Kremling officating with burial to follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton Okla. Bob passed away on December 20, at the Pecan Tree Health And Rehab in Gainesville Tx.
Bob was born on October 24, 1922 in DePort, Tx to William Buren and LarLu Blasingame Pierce. Bob graduated from Lawton High School and married the girl voted the prettiest girl in the Senior class Joyce Harris on April 4, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma.He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacfic during World War II. Bob Retired from the U. S. Postal Service where he was promoted to Postal Inspector in Charge of Washington D.C. He retired to Lake Kiowa in 1980 and was very involed in the LKACC where he served as secretary and treasurer for five years and was a charter member of the Lake Kiowa Kiwanis Club.He also served on the long range planning committee, Lake Committee and helped with the Lake Survey. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church where he had a taught a men's sunday school class. Bob will always be remembered for great sense of humor.
Bob is survived by two sisters Margaret Lehman of Santa Ana, California and Rebecca Dunford of Lawton Ok, daughter in law Beverly Pierce Duncan of Little Rock, AR; three granddaughters Amy Pierce McAdams and husband Steve of Manzaini, Swaziland Africa, Krista Pierce Jones and husband Curtis of Knoxville, Tn and Kelly Pierce of Helena, Al. Also five great grandchildren and long time caregiver, Patricia Cooksey.
Preceded in death by parents W.B and LarLu Pierce, wife Joyce Inez Pierce, daughter Diann Inez Pierce, son Robert Carroll Pierce, two brothers Bill and James Pierce.
