FRANK “DAVE” DAVIS GRIGGS



Funeral services for Frank “Dave” Davis Griggs, 66, of Era, will held at 2:30 PM Sunday, February 18, 2012 at the Rosston United Methodist Church with Pastor Jack Blease officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosston Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 PM Saturday, February 17, 2012 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.



Mr. Griggs rode to be with the Lord on February 15, 2012. He was resting at his home Era.



Dave was born October 2, 1945 in Texas City to Rube and Maurine Boothe Griggs. He married Marsha Lorelle Reed on February 9, 1980 in Rosston. He joined the Era Masonic Lodge on June 12, 1986 and served as Worshipful Master from June 1991 to June 1992. Through the years he served as Treasurer and Secretary and became a Master Mason. He was a business man for 14 years for PolyPipe Industries working his way up from plant worker to vice president of manufacturing. He loved calf roping and team roping which he did his entire life. He was a true rancher.



Mr. Griggs is survived by his wife Marsha Griggs of Era; daughter and son-in-law Casey and Mark Mason of Era; grandson Trevor Wagley of Era; brother and sister-in-law Guy and Patsy Griggs of Rockport; sister and brother-in-law Suzanne and Carol Barnett of Denton. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Steven and Vaughn Griggs of Houston, Nancy and David Hess of Houston, Katherine and Rusty White of Krum, as well as other family members.



Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and by his grandparents Guy and Mary Inglish Griggs.



Pallbearers will be Mike Graves, Steve Stevens, Jeff Graves, Arch Maples, Mark Graves, Justin Swank Brice Jackson, and Casey Harrington. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Raley (in memoriam), Don Williams, Mike Malotte, Mike Compton, and Graham Swank.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Shiners Children’s Hospital in your area.
