Walter Gerald Norwood

Walter Gerald Norwood, 84, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at North Texas Medical Center. He was born on April 4, 1927 in Nocona to Walter Leonard and Zelma Floy McNabb Norwood. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and spent most of his working career employed by Halliburton Oil Services in several northern states and Victor Equipment in Denton.

On December 22, 1946, he married his wife of 56 years, Betty Ruth Little in Gainesville.

He was preceded in death his parents, his wife Betty in 2002, and sister Rita Gault.

He is survived by his son Gary Wayne Norwood and wife Trish of Gainesville; daughter Linda K. Ritcherson and husband Ed of Gainesville; grandsons Shannon Norwood and wife Becky of Gainesville and Bradley Norwood and wife Carrie of El Paso; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial graveside service at Fairview Cemetery will be held at a later date.
