Billy Joe Steele

Funeral services for Billy Joe Steele, 85, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the funeral home.

Mr. Steele passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 in Lewisville.

Billy was born October 10, 1926 in Canon City, CO to John Earl and Myrtle Emerine Steele. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He worked for over 50 years for Enderby Gas. He was a loving father, very proud of his family, never missing an opportunity to brag on their accomplishments.

Mr. Steele is survived by his daughter Glenda Liedtke Carr of Sallisaw, OK;daughter Joan Liedtke Gray of Pittburg, OK; son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Jan Liedtke of Tyler; son and daughter-in-law Don and Robyn Liedtke of Dallas; grandchildren Patti Reed, Vicki Pipes, Doug Carr, Tommy Glenn Carr, Roddy Gray, Lauren Liedtke, Aaron Cottrell, Lee Cottrell, Lindsay Kampen, Angela Johnson; 14 great-grandchilldren; 13 great, great-grandchildren; 1 great, great, great-grandchild.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille Steele; his sister Juanita Barber Hughes.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
