Franklin "Gene" Eugene Cummins

Funeral services for Franklin “Gene” Eugene Cummins, 78, of Gainesville, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bennie Slack officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Cummins passed away June 16, 2012 in Denton.

Gene was born December 8, 1933 in Myra to Ernest W. and Elizabeth Louise Livingston Cummins. He married Janelle Conyers on Feb 22, 1958 in Gainesville. He retired from Gainesville Memorial Hospital after being an x-ray technician for 33 years. He then became a car salesman for Marler Ford. Gene was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church for many years.

Mr. Cummins is survived by his wife Janelle Cummins of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law David and Teena Cummins of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jason Merritt of Argyle; his long-time companion Cricket; grandchildren Brett Gunter, Colt Gunter, Jennifer Robertson, Jodi Nixon, Bill Haley, Erin Cummins; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Pat and Jackie Cummins of Garland and Charles and Cindy Cummins of Marble Falls. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends and loved ones to numerous to mention.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Earnest Cummins; step-father and mother Roy and Louise Brown; son-in-law Ronnie Gunter; granddaughter Jamie Leigh Cummins.
