Billy Don Meek

August 19, 1951 — July 17, 2012

Funeral services for Billy Don Meek, 60, of Southmayd, TX at scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.



Mr. Meek was surrounded by his family when he went to be with his heavenly Father on July 17, 2012 in Sherman. He was born on August 19, 1951 in Gainesville to Bill and Wilma Clinton Meek.



Billy grew up in Gainesville, and then moved to Whitesboro in High School. He loved to joke around and have fun, but had a sincere faith in God. He lived in Gainesville and married Shirley King Young. He was a good husband, who thought dearly of his wife. He attended Grand Avenue Baptist, Country Chapel and was presently music leader at Calvary Baptist in Gainesville. He was a graduate of Le Tourneau University and taught special education in Sherman, Bells, and was currently teaching in Bonham. He loved to work on his farm and spoil his family. He believed he was the richest man in the world because of his family and many friends. He truly knew how to make people feel special.



Survivors include: wife Shirley Meek of Southmayd; children Jamie and Gina Long of Gainesville; Bon and Gayla Ray of Ft. Worth; Rob and Stacy Alexander of Southmayd; Brian and Amber Young of Whitesboro; and Alan and Amanda Meek of Whitesboro; his dearly loved 15 grandchildren J.D. and Jacob Long; Brittany, Brooke, Lindsey, and Sommer Ray; Kristin, Trey, Nathan, Ryan, and Ashlyn Alexander; Kaity Young and Jordyn Meek; and Bailey and Weston Meek; brother Mike Meek of Gainesville; four nephews and one niece, including William Meek of Whitesboro. He was loved by many family friends and was known to all as fun-loving and full of song.



Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Meek.
