Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Brown, 99, of Gainesville are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel in Gainesville. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the funeral home preceding the funeral.

Mrs. Brown passed away August 3, 2012 in Gainesville. She was born December 8, 1912 in Rector, Denton County to Ginney Ora and Martha Ellen Davis. A graduate of Denton High School and Texas State College for Women, she married George W. Brown, Jr. on June 28, 1936 in Denton. Mary was one of the founding members of the Cooke County Child Development Center, as well as a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was presented a lifetime membership for her work with the PTA in the Gainesville public schools.

Survivors include: son Charles and wife Cindy Brown; grandson Dave and wife Tonnie Brown; granddaughter Melanie and husband Scott Hanson; great-grandchildren Mason and Zoe Brown; and great-granddaughter Madeline Hanson.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by: husband George W. Brown, Jr.; son George W. Brown, III; parents Ginney Ora and Martha Ellen Davis; brother Charles W. Davis; and sister Ruth E. Jones.

Pallbearers will be Joe Wallace, Bill Brannon, Tim Turbeville, Pat Price, Winford Sherrill, and Clyde Bond.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville and Home Hospice of Cooke County.
