A military graveside service for Wesley Brack Lockhart, 79 of Riverside, CA is set for 10:45am August 23rd at March AFB, Riverside National Cemetery. A private visitation service will be held at 11am, Monday, August 20th at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Mortuary in Riverside, CA. Visitation is planned for August 22nd from 5pm-8pm.
Wesley passed away on August 14, 2012 Riverside, CA.
Wesley was born in Riverside on September 22, 1932 to Joseph and Annie Lockhart.
He joined the USAF in 1950 and was stationed at Sheppard AFB. He married Joyce Rider Lockhart in 1953 in Wichita Falls.
After settling back in Riverside, he served as a Riverside County sheriff deputy before going to work for the Civil Service at Hughes Aircraft and Safety Flight. He was a C141 flight simulator engineer at Norton AFB - San Bernardino, CA; March AFB - Riverside, CA; and Wheeler Army Airfield - Island of Oahu, HA. He was also an adjunct instructor at Riverside Community College teaching aviation weather, non-visual flight and instrument reading classes.
Wesley married Lola Gerhardt in 1979 in Las Vegas.
Wes was a wonderful cook. He enjoyed working on cars and canning fruit/olives from the various trees on his family’s homestead in Riverside, CA. He always kept his yard and cars in immaculate condition.
He is survived by his wife Lola Lockhart, Riverside CA; brothers Alfred Lockhart of Lake Havasu, AZ and Delbert & Sherline Lockhart of Creston, CA; children, Doug & Dulcie Lockhart of Gainesville, John Lockhart of Denton, and Mark & Teresa McElreath of Gainesville; stepchildren, Carolyn Morrissey of Anaheim, CA, Matt & Annette Gerhardt of Fontana, CA and Cheri Terlecki of Upland, CA; grandchildren, Ragon McElreath, Reese Anne McElreath and Samantha Lockhart of Gainesville; David Templeton, Michael Morrissey, Johnny Gerhardt, Cody Gerhardt, Kasey Hoth, Arianne & Johnny Cortez, Jessica Gerhardt, Angela Gerhardt, Nicole Hubble, Michelle Terlecki all of the Inland Empire area, CA; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Johnny Gerhardt and sister Delores MacPeters.
Children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
