Alta Lou Davis

Funeral services for Alta Lou Davis, 89, of Gainesville, are set for 11:00 am Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Mountain Springs. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August, 22, 2012.

Alta was born on October 5, 1922 in Hastings, OK to John Scott and Mary Newman Hicks Scott. She passed away in Denton on August 19, 2012.

Alta married J.M. Davis on September 19, 1942 in Dallas and he preceded her death on January 1, 1983. She married Wilfred Favor on August 4, 1989 and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2003. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her son Jerry Davis and his wife Charlotte of Denton; son Larry Davis and his wife Tracy of Roxton; daughter Jeanie Davis Zachary of Sherman; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by a brother John W. Scott of Pilot Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jessie Mae McGee; sister Essie Fae Scott; sister Reba Sue Scott; and sister Ora Lee Scott.
