Martha Sue Stanley

Martha Stanley, 77, passed peacefully from this world on August 21, 2012. Funeral services for Martha are set for 2:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at New Resthaven Cemetery in Gainesville. A visitation will be held from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Friday, August 24 at the funeral home.



Martha was born October 18, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Jack and Gerry Jefferson. She married the love of her life, J.T. Stanley January 17, 1955 in Denton, Texas. They shared the next 53 years waltzing across the country. They raised three children, Charles, Dale and Karen.



After retiring in 1982, they made Gainesville their home where they became very involved in the community and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Martha was proud to serve in the Ladies Auxiliary and other community organizations where she was able to share her knack for crafting and just loving people. As a member of Sivells Bend United Methodist Church, she loved her church family and singing hymns on Sunday mornings.



Her most precious joys were spending time as “Nana” with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their trips to the lake were the highlight of holidays and summers where Nana bought movies, Coca Cola and junk food for them to enjoy. The kids would also make Nana laugh with their lake antics and activities.



She is survived by her sister Pat Jefferson and her husband Wayne Pravitz of Runaway Bay, Texas; son Charles Stanley, his wife Kathy, and children Brooke, Rayna and wife, Danielle and Nolen all of Arizona; son Dale Stanley, his wife Britt, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Drew Stanley of Moore, Oklahoma and Danae Stanley-Pynes of Paris Texas; and daughter Karen Stanley-Mann, her husband Rodney, and children Montana, Sierra and Cheyenne of Moore, Oklahoma; Great grandchildren, Parker, Evelyn and Jack.



Martha was preceded in death by her husband J.T. and her parents.
