Funeral services for Faye McCurley Bishop are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel in Gainesville. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will take place at the funeral home from 9:00 am - 10:00 am on Tuesday, just before the funeral.
Mrs. Bishop passed away on August 25, 2012 in Gainesville. She was born on February 14, 1922, in Roff, Oklahoma to William Riley and Tallie Elizabeth McCurley. A graduate of Crowell High School, she married Glenn B. Bishop in Kilgore, Texas on May 19, 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and five sisters.
Faye was the wife of a gospel preacher for more than 50 years and worked with him serving Churches of Christ in California, Florida, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Texas. She was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Gainesville for many years, and most recently attended the Commerce St. Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Mikie Bishop of San Saba, TX; son and daughter-in-law Phil and Susan Bishop of Texarkana, TX; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Charles Brown of Gainesville; grandchildren Mike and Andrea Bishop of Bartlett, TN, Robert and Angie Kusin of Fort Worth, TX, Brad and Dana Bishop of Texarkana, TX, Chad and Jill Bishop of Texarkana, TX, Bud and Jessica Bishop of Athens, GA, Dave and Tonnie Brown of Gainesville, TX, and Melanie and Scott Hanson of Keller, TX. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Zachary, Alec, Maci, Jack, Meredith, and Carter Bishop; Maxwell Kusin; Mason and Zoe Brown; and Madeline Hanson.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
