Dan O. Cason

Funeral services for Dan O. Cason, 85, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Chapel with Dr. Eddie Chennault and Pastor Larry Eberhart officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service.


Mr. Cason passed away November 22, 2012 in Gainesville.


Mr. Cason was born January 22, 1927 in Burns City to William Earl and Winnie Ione Davis Cason. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1943. On September 14, 1950, Mr. Cason married Opal Hawkins in Gainesville. After her death, he married Marjorie Smith on June 20, 1987 in Gainesville. Mr. Cason was in the U.S. Navy and retired following 20 years of service with the rank of Radioman Senior Chief. Returning to the Gainesville area, Mr. Cason began attending classes at Cooke County College and began his career with Peerless Manufacturing in Denton, where he worked for 15 years. Also, he inherited his father’s land and ranched for over 15 years. Mr. Cason always kept himself busy in the garage and thoroughly enjoyed motorcycle travel. Mr. Cason faithfully served in any church his family attended as a Deacon or Elder. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church with Marjorie.


Survivors include: wife, Marjorie Cason of Gainesville; daughter, Lynn Monden and husband, Joe of Gainesville; son, Bill Cason and wife, LeAnna of Gainesville; daughter, Kay Hansen and husband, Dave of Rendon; son, Kevin Cason and wife, Helen of Mililani, HI; step-daughter, Sharon Sparkman and husband, Marty of Gainesville; grandchildren, Carly Pruett, Connie Richardson, Chris Cason, Amber Cason, Heather Grove, Danielle Khoury, Shane Grove, Shawn Cason, Ryan Cason, Jordan Sparkman, Dathan Sparkman, and Lindsay Purdy; and 14 great-grandchildren.


Mr. Cason was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Opal Hawkins Cason; granddaughter, Brandy Michelle Monden; and grandson Michael Dan Monden.
