Funeral services for Ola Jean Henderson, 88, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Whaley United Methodist Church with Dr. Chuck Aaron officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henderson passed away January 28, 2013 in Sherman.
She was born December 18, 1924 in Gainesville to J.H. and Tabitha Cain. Mrs. Henderson worked at Camp Howze during WWII with her sisters. She married Milton Henderson on June 1, 1944 in Gainesville. Following the war, Mrs. Henderson worked for Stanley and Montgomery Ward. Before retiring, she joined her husband at ACME Cleaners, which Milton had acquired in 1972.
Mrs. Henderson always looked forward to spending quality time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She loved to square dance and religiously watched the Cowboys, Rangers, and Gainesville Leopards. Mrs. Henderson was also a seamstress and made many fond memories at Stanford House.
Survivors include: son, Charley Henderson and wife, Pam of Gainesville; grandchildren, Chris Henderson and wife, Jennifer of Lewisville, Chad Henderson of Gainesville, and Courtney Henderson of Denton; great-grandchildren, Addison and Caden Henderson; sisters, Ruth Smith of Houston, and Kathleen Sammons of Irving; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Henderson; grandson, Curt Henderson; brothers, Bill and Cal Cain; and sister, Allie Belle Futrell.
Memorial contributions may be made to Whaley UMC and Stanford House.
