Joyce Rosson Bindel

Funeral services for Joyce Rosson Bindel, 76, of Gainesville, are scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2013. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chuck Aaron officiating.

Mrs. Bindel passed away January 30, 2013 in Gainesville.

Joyce Rosson Bindel, Olena to her school friends, was the daughter of Arthur Paul "Pete" Rosson and Eunice Olena Rosson. She was born in Cooke County on July 31, 1936, and attended school in Era, excelling in basketball and according to Joyce, all other subjects except history.

After high school, she took accounting classes at Cooke County Junior College. She then took a part time bookkeeping job at Southland Paint Company is the hopes of staying on long enough to be able to buy some furniture. Roughly thirty years later, she retired from Southland Paint Company as its Chief Financial Officer. Retirement didn’t take on the first try and she took a similar position with Poly-Pipe. At both stops she made lasting friendships.

She was the former wife of Lt. Colonel Joe Frank Berry and the widow of Gilbert J. Bindel.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister Mary Nell Rosson who died in infancy; Niece Vicki Sue Monkers; son-in-law Martin Tamez; and husband Gilbert J. Bindel.

She is survived by her three children, Byron Berry of Rosston, Brenda Russell and her husband Mike of Frisco, and Denise Tamez of Ardmore.

Joyce is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Elbert and Gwen Rosson; brother and sister-in-law William Lonnie "W.L." and Lena Rosson; sister and brother-in-law Bonnie Sue and James Wilson; sister and brother-in-law Betty Lou and Gary Hillis; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
