Roger Ray Hill

March 7, 1967 — February 9, 2013

Roger Ray Hill, 45, resident of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 from injuries sustained in a car accident.

He was born in Gainesville, March 7, 1967, the son of Billy Ray and Maggie Lee Hill. Roger attended Gainesville High School where he played football proudly as a Gainesville Leopard and received his high school diploma, and acquired his Associates degree from Hill College. Roger was not currently married, but had been twice in the past.

He spent his working career in Dallas as an employee for Barco, Inc. in their Media and Entertainment Division where he was able to fulfill his love for technology and traveling, as his career required for him to be involved with both. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and spent his free time on his Custom Softail Harley-Davidson. He had a passion for rebuilding and maintaining what he called his, "project cars" and sought out each project from start to finish. He loved to be outdoors, especially if it meant socializing with friends and members of his neighborhood whom he considered family, riding his four-wheeler and motorcycle, or shooting the guns from his collection that he adored. He loved to volunteer at The Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak, where he was a camera operator for their Media Team. He also enjoyed doing toy runs for charity on his Harley.

He was a decorated soldier during his service in the United States Army. He fought in the Gulf War and spent a respectable portion of his life fighting for our freedom. His Army career was a positive impact on his life and helped mold him into a great father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. A Veteran Angel has been called home.

He is survived by his mother Maggie Lee Hill; one brother and two sisters; Jesse Hill, husband of Sharmaine Hill; Billie Fennel, wife of M.A. Fennel; and Margaret Willoughby, wife of Michael Willoughby. He is now watching over four beautiful daughters and their families; Hannah Hill; Amanda Chapman, wife of Joseph Chapman; Laura "Rachel" Boyd, wife of Kurt Boyd; and Evelyn Isch, wife of Matt Isch; He was a wonderful "Poppy" and "Pop Pop" to Jace Chapman; Kannon and Harper Boyd; and Caitlyn, Madeline, and Charlie Isch. He had many loved ones including, but not limited to, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Ray; and his aunt, Faye Welch.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. His funeral service will start one hour later, at 2:00 PM, at the before mentioned funeral home. Burial will follow immediately after at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Oklahoma, where he will be laid to rest with his father, Billy Ray.

He lived a short but fulfilling life, and his memory will live on forever.
