Jewel Hazelrigs

Funeral services for Jewel Hazelrigs are set for Monday March 18,2013 at 10: A.M. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Davis of Collinsville officating with burial to follow in Fairview cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday March 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jewel passed away on Thursday March 14, 2013 at the Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville.

Jewel was born on December 23, 1926 in Paris Tx to L.O. and Lola Blankenship Cockrum. She married J.D. Hazelrigs on Feb. 28,1944 in Paris Tx. They moved to Gainesville in 1946 where they spent the remainder of their lives. Jewel retired from the G.I.S.D. serving in food service. she was a active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she had the honor of serving for more than 60 years. Jewel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and was loved and respected by many.

Jewel is survived by daughters Carolyn Brock, Marilyn Burgess, Linda Tooley and husband Don, Denise Evans and husband Lee. Grandchildren Mike and DeeDee Beaver,Marisa and Mark Reeeves, Dina Arterbury, Meredith and Craig Reed, David Burgess, Mitch Tooley, Mark and Mindy Tooley, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband J. D. Hazelrigs, parents, brother and sister and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Tooley, Marl Tooley, David Burgess, Mark Reeves, Jared Forrester and Zack Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Beaver, Gus Arterbury, Aiden Reed and Davis Burgess.You may sign the on line registry at geojcarroll.com
