Alrich "Red" Zwinggi

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alrich ‘Red’ Zwinggi, 83, of Lindsay, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 18 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Zwinggi passed away March 15, 2013 in Muenster.

He was born February 27, 1930 in Lindsay to Leo and Lenora Zwinggi. Mr. Zwinggi enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November 1948. During the Korean War, he served in Detroit, San Antonio, and Houston. Mr. Zwinggi was honorably discharged from service in August 1951. On June 29, 1954, Mr. Zwinggi married Joyce Grewing at Sacred Heart in Muenster. They raised three children over 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Mr. Zwinggi worked as a welder and maintenance technician for National Supply. Knowing the importance of time with loved ones, he always planned a vacation for his family to Colorado, Arizona, Florida, and many other places. In his retirement, Mr. Zwinggi enjoyed driving cars for Johnson Motors and Glenn Polk Autoplex. He treasured his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For the last ten years, Mr. and Mrs. Zwinggi would spend every summer in Colorado together.

Survivors include: wife, Joyce Zwinggi of Lindsay; son, Danny Zwinggi and wife Carla of Muenster; daughter, Donna Tutt and husband Ricky of Montgomery; son, Chris Zwinggi and wife Carolyne of Coppell; grandchildren: Jeremy Zwinggi, April Walterscheid, Amy Bryant, Jana and Clayton Truebenbach, Josh Garner, and Tyler, Conner, and Shelby Zwinggi; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Zwinggi was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Loretta Bassett and Freida Sutton; brothers: Leonard, Joe, Oscar, Kenny, and Roy Zwinggi; granddaughter, Jamie Zwinggi Yosten; and nephews: John and Mark Zwinggi.
