A.J. King

Graveside services for A.J. King, 86, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Buddy Wade officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. King passed away March 25, 2013 in Gainesville.

He was born February 18, 1927 in Burns City, TX to Thomas and Lucy King. In 1955, Mr. King married his wife of 57 years, Rita Faye Wilson, in Gainesville. Mr. King was a talented guitarist and enjoyed playing country music. Later in life, Mr. King became an accomplished painter.

Survivors include: wife, Rita of Gainesville; daughter, Elaine Gardner and husband, Danny of Wolfe City; son, Richard King of Gainesville; grandchildren: Jeff Leaton and wife, Amy; Dawn Simmons and husband, Chad; Randi Jones and husband, Timothy; Misti Gardner; Teri Cawthon and husband, Alex; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Cluiss of Gainesville; sister, Ray Pearson of Gainesville; and sister, Fay Freeman of Krum.

Mr. King was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Robert Cavage; grandson, Gregory King; great-grandsons, Grayson Jones and Parker Jones; brother, Lavoy King; and sisters: Lillie Bruce, Margie Pierce, Jeanie McQuirt, and Ida Mae Jones.
