Carol Whitson Dollar

September 9, 1943 — May 5, 2013

A memorial service for Carol Ann Whitson Dollar, 69, of Runaway Bay, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with Rev. Denny Hook officiating.

Mrs. Dollar was peacefully released from life Sunday morning, May 5, 2013. Carol had a brief, but valiant fight with cancer.

Born on September 9, 1943 in Hanford, California, Carol was the only child of Freeman William Whitson and Lois LaVelle Nichols Whitson. Carol Dollar was married to the love of her life, Billy Ray Dollar, Sr. for 53 years. Carol was an educator for 17 years and was loved by her students for the excitement and love of literature she brought to the classroom. She received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Midwestern State University.

She and her husband Bill, and son Billy, started Texoma Web Printing in 1983. She was an integral part of the business for the better part of 20 years. Thereafter, she and Bill traveled hither and yonder, spending regular time in England, Ireland and Hawaii. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and furnishing beds to her grandchildren (which she felt was a gift to herself). She loved her family, whom she inspired, and they were devoted to her. She had genuine close friends that she held very close. Although she didn’t have siblings, she was very close to and adored her sisters’ in-law who she grew up with, and felt that they were blood sisters to her. She had no regrets and lived life to the best, reading and learning each day, arguing politics and loving her family until the very end.

Carol Dollar is proudly survived by her husband Bill Dollar, her son Billy Ray Dollar, Jr., his wife Mary Jo Dollar of Gainesville, their children Natalie Rae Dollar of Amsterdam, Netherlands and Charles Dollar of Seattle, Washington; her daughter Alison LaVelle Dollar Weinberg, her husband Robert Weinberg of Dallas, their children Whitson Weinberg and Wells Weinberg; her son Lee Whitson Dollar, his wife Dana Dollar of Denton, their children Alexi Dollar and Liam Dollar - all hope to continue her passion for good literature and lively debate.
