Funeral services for Kenneth Mearl Youngblood, 77, of Lake Jackson, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Youngblood went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2013. He died of surgical complications. He was surrounded by his family and his loss will leave a hole in their lives forever.

Kenneth was born on November 16, 1935, in Sunset, Texas to Joseph and Viola Youngblood. The sixth of seven children, he lived on a farm in Hood until the family moved to Gainesville. While at Gainesville High School he met his first and only girlfriend, Wanda Gayle May. They married in 1956 and eventually settled in Lake Jackson where Kenneth was employed by Dow Chemical Company. He retired from Dow in 1993 after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he honed his woodworking skills in his home workshop. He crafted beautiful boxes and pens from exotic woods and loved seeing the joy they brought to others. He was happiest when he was covered in sawdust.

Kenneth was a good, hard-working man who loved his family and was well loved by them. Husband, father, grandfather, beloved brother, uncle and cousin are all roles he embraced with enthusiasm and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gayle May Youngblood; two daughters, Rhonda Youngblood Hearne and husband, David and Lesia Youngblood of Lake Jackson; two grandchildren, Katherine and Kevin Hearne, both of Houston. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Hand of Chico, Marjorie Tune of Gainesville and Elaine Mitchell of Indio, CA; brother, Bobby Youngblood of Allen; sister-in-law Sue Cullum and her husband Don of Gainesville; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter, Deborah Kay Youngblood; stepbrother, William Cobb; and sister, Venita Jo Hillis.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Habitat for Humanity or the Pregnancy Help Center.
