Layton Kitterman

Graveside services for Layton Kitterman, 84, of Gainesville, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Oak Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at Whaley United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Boone officiating both services.


Mr. Kitterman passed away June 27, 2013 in Gainesville.


Layton was born on October 22, 1928 in Ada, OK to Leo R. and Jessie Nash Kitterman. He graduated high school in Garber, OK and served in the Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. In 1953, Layton graduated from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, OK, earning his BS degree in Petroleum Engineering/Petroleum Refining as a chemical engineer.


He finished his working career having completed 35 years with Glitsch, Inc. in Dallas, TX. Layton was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Process.


Survivors include his wife Barbara (Head) Kitterman of Gainesville; his three daughter, Susan Patton, Christi O’Connor, Karen Houston (Marshall) and three granddaughters of the Dallas area. He is also survived by his sister Lenora Hannes of Houston.


He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Leo, Donald, and Raymond.
