Funeral services for Jerry “Bubba” Hadaway, 78, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Bart Hadaway, son of Jerry, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the funeral home.
Jerry passed away July 8, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Hadaway was born March 23, 1935 to S. C. and Reva Shivley Hadaway in Smackover, AR. He was raised in Laird Hill. Then after graduation, he moved to Gainesville to work for Western Electric, installing dial phone systems. He married Barbara Dodd on September 16, 1954 in Gainesville. He then owned and operated the Texaco station on the corner of Grand Ave. and California St., servicing automobiles and helping people for 14 years. He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, basketball, and football for the Boys Club, for over 15 years.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara Hadaway of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Charisse and David Fuhrmann of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Bart and Kim Hadaway of Maricopa, AZ; son Brent Hadaway of Irving. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hadaway was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerl Hadaway.
