MaryAnn Carson, 76, went to God Sunday morning, July 21, 2013. A funeral mass will be said by Father Jeff Stubbs at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, Gainesville, on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Her cremated remains will be inurned in the church columbarium. A reception will follow immediately at the adjacent Parish Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, if desired, in lieu of flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Captain W. Grant Carson, USN (Ret) of Gainesville, one son and daughter-in-law, Dan Coleman Deffebach, Jr. and Hillary Threet Deffebach of Graham, three daughters, Tammy Ann Skipwith of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Terry Lea Hale of Atlanta, Georgia, Danice Lillie Grisham and husband Shawn Michael Grisham of Dallas, stepdaughter Linda Goswick of Kilgore, stepson and daughter-in-law Grant H. and Jessica Carson of Ventura, California, nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude B. Carson, one son, Tolly Joe Lucas, and previous husband, Dan C. Deffebach.
MaryAnn was born in Fort Worth August 10, 1936 and was reared in Dallas. She attended City of Dallas schools and Tyler Junior College. She lived in Tyler for 35 years, raising her children and managing a small business and also ranching enterprises.
MaryAnn and husband Grant have resided in Gainesville since 2002. She was active in Red River Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, North Central Texas Chorale, North Texas Women’s Choir and Saint Paul’s choir. She did volunteer work for Morton Museum and was a member of Cooke County Historical Society and South Gainesville Historic Neighborhood Association.
