James was born in Gunter, TX on August 7, 1923 to S.W. and Mattie P. Hendrickson Spradley. He passed away on July 19, 2013 in Nocona.

James is survived by his wife Mary Louise Spradley of Forestburg; daughter Linda Spradley of Forestburg; grandson Cameron Spradley; granddaughter Topange Spradley of Forestburg; and a niece Barbara Moon of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
