James Richard Caston, age 82, of Gainesville, Tx joined his loving wife, Millie, in heaven on July 30th, 2013. Jim was often called "Pa" or "Cpt. Jim" by many. He was born in Roanoke, Indiana on December 2nd, 1930 to William and Dorothy Caston. He graduated from high school and joined the Air Force in 1947. He was an aviator and trained multiple squadrons during his military career.
On a trip thru a small town in Illinois, he met the woman of his dreams, Mildred Verlene Trease. They married July 18, 1955 in Mauldin, Ms. With this marriage, he took on the responsibility of raising his young sister in law, Pauline, as if she was a daughter. They soon moved to Reese AFB where their first child; James Michael arrived on July 4, 1956. Jim was later transferred to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Tx where they established a home and welcomed a daughter; Terry Lynn on October 29th, 1959. Their family complete, he retired as a Captain in 1968. They owned several businesses while raising their family and made many lifelong friends. In 2008, they moved to Gainesville to be near family. Only a few months later, Jim suffered the loss of Millie in February 2009. He maintained his home and became known in the area for raising livestock and driving his four wheeler delivering a cold one.
He is survived by his children; Mike Caston and wife Erin of Cross Roads. Terry Geeslin of Frisco. His grandchildren; Harold Caston and family of San Angelo. Heather Jeffrey and family of San Angelo. Kizzy Bishop and family of Timpson.Brandi Collins and family of Aubrey. Madison Caston of Cross Roads. Danielle Geeslin of Austin. And 10 great-grandchildren who will also miss their “Pa”.
He is also survived by his sisters; Mary Ann Kummer of Roanoke, Ind., Delores Ohernesorge of Ft. Wayne, Ind. And his brother, Bill Caston of Concorde, Ca.There are many other family members across the US that are feeling the loss.
Memorial Services are being held at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home located at 602 S. Lindsay Street, Gainesville, TX on Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at 2pm.
