Ray Kent Dill

Funeral services for Ray Kent Dill, 71, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, with Dr. James T. Egan and Dr. Bennie Slack officiating. Burial will follow the service at 1:30 p.m. at the Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in Gainesville from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

Ray Kent was born on April 20, 1942 in Gainesville to Jack Raymond and Beulah Beatrice DeBorde Dill. He passed away on August 5, 2013 in Denton.

Ray Kent married Sharon Ruth Eldridge on February 3, 1963 in Gainesville. He retired from National Supply in 1989. He also retired from GISD as director of operations/transport. Kent owned and operated Dill Fencing for over 35 years with his three sons. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville for 46 years, serving on several commitees, and was a Deacon. He loved hunting, camping, and repairing things, but most of all he loved his church and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon of Gainesville; son Johnny Dill and his wife Misty of Era; son Brian Dill and his wife Rose of Tucson, AZ; son Kris Dill and his wife Marsha of Lindsay; extended family Sascha Tietje and his wife Linda of Coppell; grandchildren Kathryn, Chase, Haley, Paige, Payton, Laura, Seth, Emily, Grace, John, Kate, Justin, and Clara Dill; and great-granddaughter Scarlett Dill. He is also survived by a brother Jack Carroll Dill and his wife Jewell of Forestburg; sister-in-law Mary Ann Dill of Saginaw; brother-in-law Guy Gates of Torrance, CA; sister-in-law Linda Stevens of Decatur; and brother-in-law L. M. "Butch" Eldridge and his wife Mary of Era.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kathryn Gates; brother Harold Dill; brother Jerry Don Dill; and granddaughter Audrey Rose Dill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Dill, Russell Dill, Mitch Dill, Doyle Gates, Tim Dill, Charles Dill, Brady Dill, Marty Eldridge, Richard Tharp, Mark Stevens, Mike Stevens, and Ryan Eldridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
