Tommy Dan Beaty was carried on angel’s wings into the presence of the Lord on August 16, 2013, he was 79. Tom lived in Lake Kiowa, TX. Tom was born on August 27, 1933 in Gorman, TX to Daniel Monroe Beaty and Dona Mae (Lindsay) Beaty. He is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie C. McElroy (Holt) Beaty; daughter, Suzan (Beaty) Hendrickson and her husband Chuck Hendrickson; son, Dan Beaty and his wife Charla (Roth) Beaty; sister Dorothy (Beaty) Burks; and grandchildren, Chad and spouse Kendra Hendrickson, Megan and spouse Will Dirickson, Amy Hendrickson and Andrew Ballinger, and Lindsay Beaty; many nephews and nieces. Tom is predeceased by his parents, brother Alton Beaty and sister Allene (Beaty) Bausell. After Tom graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology, he married Jimmie on December 28, 1957 in Lockney, TX. After serving as Lieutenant in the US Army Infantry, Tom began his career in the oil patch. He began in the oil field service industry with many promotions and ended his distinguished career with Mobil Oil drilling/environmental management. His career enabled Tom and Jimmie to travel the globe several times to include homes in Montana, Colorado, Texas, Indonesia, Venezuela and ultimately back to Texas. While he was very proud to be selected from all Mobile Drilling Engineers to make a presentation Society of Professional Engineers, his greatest joy came from seeing his values, beliefs and life principles passed on and lived out in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10am at First Christian Church, 401 N. Dixon Street, Gainesville, TX, Rev. Mark Loewen officiating, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
