Sherian Ann Keeling

Funeral Mass for Sherian Keeling, 70, of Gainesville, is set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Condon Grove Cemetery in Tishomingo, OK. A Liturgy of the Word with a visitation to follow will be held at the Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013.


Sherian was born on March 28, 1943 in Durant, OK. to Edgar and Ernestine Ervin. She passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in Gainesville after a seven year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.


Sherian graduated Yuba High School in 1961. She received her Masters in Reading and Administration from the University of North Texas in 1967. Sherian married Danny Keeling in October 1962 in Yuba, OK. She was a teacher and administrator of Walnut Bend ISD for 25 years, later becoming the Principle of Edison Elementary, and Assistant Superintendent of GISD. She was a dedicated follower of GISD Basketball. Sherian had a profound interest in genealogy, especially after retiring.


Sherian is survived by her husband Danny of Gainesville; daughter Jennifer Barentine and her husband Kevin of Lewisville; granddaughters Hannah and Allie Barentine of Lewisville; sister Glenda Hamby and her husband Ernest of Yuba, OK; sister Gwen Strickland and her husband F.B. of Nicholas, NC.; sister Nancy Strickland and her husband Frank, Jr. of Albany, OK.; sister Kay Cole and her husband Mike of Holcomb, MS.; and brother Eddie Don Ervin and his wife Ethel of Caddo, OK. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Kelly Keeling.


Pallbearers will be Jamie Keeling, B.J. Keeling, Robby Keeling, Joel Northcutt, Nathan Strickland, Ricky Hamby, Michael Owens, and Vernon Stephens.


Honorary pallbearers are Buster Bezner, Robert Voth, Mike Rosenberg, Carl Yeats, and Jim Smith.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
