Patsy Lorelle Reed Hardin passed into the Kingdom of her Lord on Wednesday morning, October 23, 2013. Recognized as a faithful and devoted servant, Patsy was a very active member in her church, St. Paul’s Episcopal in Gainesville. Through the church, her membership in Daughter of the King, and the Altar Guild, she provided many hours of church and community service for more than 18 years. Retired two years ago, Patsy was a dedicated employee of Tom Thumb for 36 years.
Born on March 13, 1938, in Whitesboro, Texas, she was a life-long resident of the area around Whitesboro, Gainesville and Era. Patsy is survived by her daughter, Marsha Griggs of Era, her son Johnny Reed of Denison, grandchildren Casey and Mark Mason of Era, Johnathon Reed of Denison, Tracy Reed of Dallas, Erin Reed of Gainesville, and great grandson Trevor Wagley of Era. She is also survived by her sister, Doris A. Geiwitz, niece Geri B. Ray and nephew Kurt A. Geiwitz and family, all of Spring Branch, and nephew Martin W. Ray of New Braunfels, Texas. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Reed, parents Minnie Viola Barnes and Luke Breeden, and son-in-law Dave Griggs.
A Funeral service will be held for Patsy on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 415 East California St., Gainesville with Father Jeff Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Patsy’s wishes were that there be no visitation and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to her church, St. Paul’s Episcopal.You my sign the online registry at geojcarroll.com
