Harry G. Mccoy

Funeral services for Harry G. McCoy, 89, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev Mark Loewen officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Harry was born on December 25, 1923 in Cleveland, OK. to Carl G. and Bessie (Wakeman) McCoy. He passed away on November 13, 2013 at the Muenster Hospital.

Harry was a graduate of Gainesville High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army and served during WWII. When he returned, he married Billie Deitz at the First Christian Church in Gainesville on December 10, 1946. Until his death, he was very active in many clubs and organizations in the Gainesville area.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie McCoy of Gainesville; son H.P. McCoy and his wife Joann of Wilmington, N.C.; granddaughter Meredith Cronenwett and her husband Chris of Vero Beach, FL.; grandson Harry "Nick" McCoy of Wilson, N.C.; great-grandchildren Miles McCavitt and Conner "Boo" Cronenwett; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Bessie McCoy; stepmother Edna McCoy; brother Bob McCoy; sister Nina Wilson; brother Lloyd "Bo" McCoy; brother Jack McCoy; sister Roberta Courtwright; and daughter-in-law Tanya McCoy.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hatcher, Blaine Elliott, Wilbur Smith, Bill Williams, Keith Clegg, Cody Ortowski, and Jim Myrick.
