Rufus Edward " Duffy ' Proffer

Funeral service for Rufus " Duffy " Proffer is set for Monday December 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel with the Reverend Don Yeager officating with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Duffy passed away on December 21, 2013 in Gainesville Tx.

Duffy was born on March 6, 1928 in Gainesville to Rufus and Dixie Hunter Proffer. He worked for forty years as a engineer for the Santa Fe railroad and was a member of the transporation union for 50 years. Duffy served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Repose in the South Pacific circling the Equator two times. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing.

Duffy loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife of over sixty years Dorothy Proffer, daughters Gina Henley and husband Rob and Sheila Hacker and her husband Michael and grandchildren Kate, Lauren and Callie.
