Robert Eugene Lasalle

January 30, 1963 — January 2, 2014

January 2, 2014 at 4:21pm, Robert Eugene LaSalle, born January 30, 1963, precious child of Robert J. LaSalle and the late Marilyn LaSalle, beloved husband of Becky LaSalle, cherished father of Melissa LaSalle, Robert K. LaSalle, & Emily LaSalle, and father in law of Abbey LaSalle (Stark); deeply loved grandfather of Shaylyn, AJ (Ashton Joseph), Gavin, and Edisyn; brother of Daniel LaMere, Steve LaSalle, Bradley LaSalle and Timothy LaSalle; son in law, brother in law, uncle, friend to many, and coach to hundreds, swapped his Superman cape for the angel wings he's been working on for so long.

After valiantly battling small cell esophageal cancer for over four years, knowing that on this earth there was no cure, God gave Robbie the healing we so desperately prayed for. The instant Rob took his last breath, he was in heaven... in a new healthy heavenly body; no pain, no needles, no chemo or radiation, no feeding tube, no nausea, and no bills or pool pump or earthly problems to worry about. Robbie is HEALED... completely and beautifully healed by the hand of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Born in Glen Cove New York, Robert moved with his father and brothers to Texas in 1978. They eventually settled in Lindsay, Texas. Robert enlisted in the Army in 1980, serving a good portion of his duty in Korea on the DMZ and otherwise based at Ft. Polk Louisiana.

Robert and Becky married on October 1, 1983 in Memphis, TN and were blessed with three children over the years. They moved to Gainesville, Texas in February 1984 just before the birth of their first child. They lived in Gainesville, working and playing and contributing to the community in various ways for over 30 years.
Robert was a quality manager for Boeing in Corinth for 15 years and then went on to eventually work as a quality manager for Mayday Manufacturing in Denton.

Robert was a member of the Gainesville Citizens Police Academy Alumni, a member of the Gainesville Planning & Zoning Board, president of Cooke County Soccer Association for nine years, Regional Commissioner of AYSO 1434 for five years, and spent over 18 years coaching children of various ages in soccer, baseball, and softball with CCSA, AYSO, Boys Baseball of Cooke County, and The Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County. Robert was voted the Clorox National Volunteer of the Year in 2008 by US Youth Soccer and AYSO National. Robert loved life, his family, and mentoring children.

Robert’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 12th at 3pm at the Civic Center in Gainesville. We are asking that anyone who was coached by Robert who can still fit in your jerseys, please wear them. No Jackets & ties, Robert hated wearing a tie. Please wear a soccer or baseball jersey OR a superman shirt in honor of Robert. (If you don’t have a jersey or superman shirt please just wear casual attire.)

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Robert E. LaSalle benefit fund at First State Bank in Gainesville, TX or they can be mailed directly to their home.

“One hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, how big my house was, or what kind of car I drove. But the world may be a little better, because I was important in the life of a child.” ~ Forest Witcraft
