Thomas "Bud" E. Bragg

Graveside services for Thomas Edward Bragg, 87, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Fairview Cemetery pavilion with Mark Wascom and Joe Knox officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, prior to the service, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Bragg passed away January 13, 2014 in Plano.

Mr. Bragg was born October 5, 1926 in Burkburnett to Thomas W. and Annie Lee (Barrow) Bragg. Bud moved to Gainesville as a child. After high school, he served in the United States Navy and was discharged with medals and ribbons. He was then employed by National Supply, a Division of Armco Steel, where he retired after 30 years of service.

He married Pat Stark on October 5, 1947 and celebrated 55 years of marriage until her death in 2002. Bud was a loving husband, devoted father, and wonderful "Pop" who was always eager and willing to spend time with his children and grandchildren and help out where needed. His generous spirit was felt everywhere by friends and family. Both Bud and Pat were charter members of Gainesville Bible Church.

In 2007, at age 80, KLUV radio station graciously sponsored a trip for Bud to fly to Washington D.C. with his daughter to visit the World War II Memorial which had just been erected.

His hobbies included fishing, wood-working, gardening and volunteering at the church.

Survivors include: daughter, Jillian Anderson and husband, David of Arlington; son, Philip Bragg and wife, Patricia of Gainesville; daughter, Carolyn Clark of Gainesville; daughter, Sara McGaugh and husband, Roy of Izoro; daughter, Judy Greilich and husband, Paul of Carrollton; daughter, Leslie Coffey of Highland Village; grandchildren: Aaron Chaffin, Heath Bragg, Allyson Bragg, Joshua McGaugh, Caleb McGaugh, Eric Greilich, Rachel Greilich, and Spencer Coffey; great-grandchildren: Kylee, Alexandria, and Matthew Chaffin, Savannah and Peyton Bragg, Ethan, Ciara, and Carlie Cleveland, Michaela Blakesly, and Anna Noel Bragg; and a great-great-grandchild, Kennedy Genelle. Survivors also include his sisters: Margaret Jones, Elizabeth Atteberry, and Ima Jean Clark.

Mr. Bragg was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Stark Bragg.

Mr. Bragg’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Gainesville Bible Church.
