Audra Lee Blagg

December 13, 1919 — January 20, 2014

Funeral services for Audra Lee Blagg, 94, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.


Mrs. Blagg was born December 13, 1919 in Gainesville to George Lewis and Daisy Viola Phillips. She passed away January 20, 2014 in Gainesville.


Mrs. Blagg married Coy Blagg February 13, 1941. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church and was their eldest member. She touched countless lives during the 56 years she taught Sunday School classes there. Mrs. Blagg was a devoted volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Santa Fe Railroad Lady’s Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling. Mrs. Blagg treasured the time she spent with her numerous grand children and their families.


Survivors include: daughter, Coy Lynn Compton and husband, Mike of Wichita Falls; son, William Danny Blagg and wife, Cindi of Thackerville, OK; son, Roy Blagg and wife, Jelessa of Shawnee, OK; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


Mrs. Blagg was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Coy Blagg; son, Jackie Phillip Blagg; granddaughter, Tammie Lynn Blagg; granddaughter, Jackie Lynn Hunsaker; and her 7 younger siblings.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.


A handwritten note was found in Mrs. Blagg’s possessions – “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see; when he takes me by the hand and leads me to the Promised Land.”
