Bobby Krebs

May 10, 1954 — March 1, 2014

Memorial services for Robert “Bobby” Dale Krebs, 59, of Garland, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Highland Oaks Church of Christ - Dallas. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Krebs passed from this life after a brief illness and went to his heavenly reward on March 1, 2014. He was born May 10, 1954 in Dallas to Eugene Krebs and Sylvia Valdez, and was the third of five children. He attended St. Philip’s Catholic School in Dallas and, after moving to Gainesville, was a member of Gainesville High School class of 1973.

Bobby worked at the planing mill as a teenager, where he lost his thumb in a saw accident. He turned this misfortune into a lifelong opportunity for humor – it would always make his family laugh when he would say he could only hitch-hike in one direction. He would also use it as an example to show children what could happen if they sucked their thumb for too long.

Mr. Krebs held several jobs in Gainesville, including a position at Dustin’s Office Machines where he was a popular figure in downtown. He also worked at Marler Ford. During this time, he was married to Carol Ann Morris and they had a son, Alex.

In beginning his career, Mr. Krebs followed in his father’s footsteps to become a carpenter and homebuilder. He worked for several homebuilders in the Dallas area before finally forming his own company, RDK Construction, in 2013. As some aspects of the homebuilding business changed with the times, Bobby remained old school, putting many miles on his truck to meet with homeowners, contractors, and inspectors in person so he could be sure that the end product was a job well done.

After his marriage to Lisa Lawrence in 1989, they moved to Garland where they had two children, Erica in 1990, and Alissa in 1992. During their school years, Bobby could be found cheering loud and proud at their sporting events. He cherished his girls and the time he spent with them.

Bobby was very outgoing and friendly with a great sense of humor. He loved to have an audience and had quite a talent for telling a story or a joke. When meeting Bobby, one knew they met someone unique, truly one-of-a-kind. In 2013, Bobby put on his Lord in baptism and was a faithful member of the Highland Oaks Church of Christ.

He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, painful as that often was, and enjoyed playing golf and watching NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Krebs; and stepfather, Johnnie Valdez.

Survivors include: wife, Lisa Krebs, and daughters, Erica and Alissa Krebs, all of Garland; son, Alex Revell; mother, Sylvia Valdez; brother, Ronnie Krebs and wife, Lora; sister, Jennifer Cannon; sister, Cheryl Sutton and friend, Randy Hott; sister, Karen Green and husband, Gary; half-sisters, Patricia Wallace and Carol Mauldin; parents-in-law, Robert and Betty Lawrence; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Leo Voyles.
